Job Description:
  • To travel extensively and establish contact with sawmills in Peninsular Malaysia.
  • To maintain contact with new sources of timber sawmills and seek ways to expand the business.
  • To ensure timely delivery and quality of timber from various sawmills in Peninsular Malaysia.
  • Process the purchase orders by liaising with suppliers or principals 
  • Review stock purchase by monitoring market conditions, current stock levels and lead time required for manufacturing, potential price increase, anticipation of new orders from customers, suppliers conditions.
  • Ensure all purchases are approved within mandated guidelines 
  • Avoid overstocking by working with product manager and warehouse manager on slow moving inventory.
  • Arrange air and sea freight and liaise with forwarders on services and costs 
  • Manage the overseas purchase enquiries 
  • Process GRN (Goods Received Note) and arrange payment to suppliers 
  • Cost the goods purchased by incorporating freight and ensure that all costs incurred in operating dept are kept within control 
  • Organize the purchasing team to ensure even workload, coverage of duties and training 
  • Review regularly processes to streamline, improve throughout and reduce paper work and rework 
  • Ensure seamless integration with logistics/warehouse and customer service.
  • Ensure detailed report (English) sent to the reporting manager in Dubai office.

Preferred Skills:

Ability to travel and must posses own transport.

Must have extensive knowledge on the road networks in Peninsular Malaysia.

Excellent polite and persuasive communication skills and ready to mix with wide range of people.

Must be able to communicate in English. In addition - Malay, Mandarin will be preferred.

Must be efficient in handling stress.

Passionate, hard worker and well organized professional with power to prioritize and multitask.

Should exert sound judgment, discretion and preserve confidentiality.

Ability to meet deadlines.

Good liaison with all other department members.

Flexible to work in non business hours.

Able to work alone.
